 ROUND 6 – Saturday 8 May 2010

Division Team Opposition Result Match Report
DP1 QUT 5 Commodores W 3-0 (forfeit) Commodores had to forfeit as they did not have enough players.  QUT lent them some players and a ten on ten scratch match was held.  QUT therefore picks up the win with a notional 3 goals.
DP4 QUT 6 Commodores L 0-4 After a successful training with our new addition to the team (Aunty Barb), there was a new level of enthusiasm amongst the DP4 girls. The first half of the game showed once again how well we can work as a team, with great passages of play, lots of talking (mostly about the game) and some awesome work by our toothless goalie, Viv. Unfortunately things seemed to drop in the second half, some Saffa anger appeared and we just couldn’t keep the hard hitting old fogies out of our circle.

ROUND 5 – Saturday 1 May 2010

Division Team Opposition Result Match Report
DP1 QUT 5 Norths D 0-0 Saturday’s game was going to be strange from the start.  With the umpire making it clear that if you ever touched the ball on your back stick a penalty would be called against you.  So after a frustrating first half, QUT started to take control of the game in the second half and had all the possession.  Unfortunately the net evaded us, and we were unable to capitalize resulting in a nil all draw. The next few weeks look like it will be interesting as the team is starting to put great passages of play together and starting to run all over the opposition.  A little more patience in our attacking 25, and I am sure the wins will start stringing together.
DP4 QUT 6 Norths L 1-2 With umpiring technicality brought to an all new level for Downey Park, DP4 lost to Norths 2-1 – both goals conceded being to strokes. Down two strokes to nothing at half time, the girls battled on, and were rewarded with a tremendous flowing goal, whose movement started at Full Back. Unfortunately, while we had a number of chances, we couldn’t quite finish the game off and the score remained 2-1. Robyn Carter scored the goal.

ROUND 4 – Saturday 24 April 2010

Division Game Result Match Report
DP 1 QUT 5 v UQ D 0-0 With a rainy Saturday on the cards, it was always going to be a difficult game.  What made it worse, was we were playing a team that was undefeated to date, so the challenge was thrown down early.  QUT rose to the challenge and with 75% possession the girls played well with excellent team work.  Unfortunately the elusive winning goal never came.  We drew the game 0 -  0, which while was a good result, the win was there for the taking and we didn’t seize the opportunity. The season is wide open and the team are playing so well.  We have played the 3 top teams so far, and with all the good results and our team challenging the top team on the weekend and getting a draw, there will definitely be more wins to come.  Thank you to Matt Cody and Bruce for turning up in the rainy conditions to support the girls.
DP 4 QUT 6 v UQ L 1-7 DP4 played the forces of darkness (UQ) on Saturday. The first half was a forgettable affair, as the team went into half time trailing 3-0. The second half saw better play, as both the commitment to run back in defence and passing improved, but was also a half of misfortune, as anything that could go wrong did. Janai and Lisa both managed to deflect balls beyond the reach of our keeper, and Kalisa actually managed a full blooded strike in the wrong circle. The end score was 7-1, with the goal going to Kylie.

 ROUND 3 – Sunday 18 April 2010

 Division Game Result Match Report
DP 1 QUT 5 v UQ W 1-0 Having backed up from Saturday’s loss the girls were ready to go in fighting.  We started strongly and put together great passages of attack.  Not only were we in attack more then 75% of the game, but we controlled our game, and played as a team which resulted in a 1 – 0 win.  Cassandra scored the goal.  The result wasn’t indicative of the game, but we were just unable to find the net more then once.  It was a great win and the first of many to come.
DP 4 QUT 6 v St Andrews L 1-2 With only 9 players for most of the game, tired legs from the day before, and rather hot conditions, it was a herculean effort by all and a game to be proud of. Once again there was fantastic passing and whilst “helpful” shouts from the sideline of “keep running!” were met with dirty looks, the girls played hard right until the final buzzer. Kalissa scored the goal and next time we’re up against them and have a full team, we’ll be all over them!

 ROUND 2 – Saturday 17 April 2010

Division Game Result Match Report
DP 1 QUT 5 v Commercial L 1-2 Unfortunately the girls went down in a hard fought match that went right to the buzzer.  Commercial scored first, before QUT put together a great string of attack that resulted in an excellent field goal.    The game was hard fought and went right to the end where commercial scored off a short corner, on the buzzer.
DP 4 QUT 6 v Commercial L 1-3 Games against Commercial are always interesting, their 100 year old players with massive swings and hits, but we were young, fit and could run circles around them. Kind of. Robyn scored an awesome goal and Carla stopped them from getting shots away time after time, but it just wasn’t our day.

 ROUND 1 – Saturday 10 April 2010

Division Game Result Match Report
DP 1 QUT 5 v Kedron Wavell L 0-1 ?
DP 4 QUT 6 v Kedron Wavell D 1-1 Another hot day, a field that actually had grass on it, and the DP4 team was raring to go! The first half started off a bit slow but we pulled together and with some great passing between Ash, Kalissa and Ellie, the first goal of the season was scored! Thanks to Jenny for filling in as super-goalie and a shout out to the kamikaze player.

 GRADING GAMES

Division Game Result Match Report
DP4 QUT 6 v SWU 0-1 DP4 had nice (hot) conditions for their grading game on Saturday. Considering the girls had not really played together before, they did really well working together to move the ball up the field. With a few more trainings under their belts, we’ll see some amazing structured play, and had the game gone for more than 20min, I’m sure they would have at least equalised.  The second game was cancelled due to the heat so it will be interesting to see how they decide what division teams are put in.
