ROUND 13 – Sat 3 & Sun 4 July
| Division | Team | Opposition | Result | Match Report |
| 2 | QUT 1 | Norths | W 2-1 | |
| 3 | QUT 2 | Norths | L 0-3 | QUT played Norths on Sunday arvo, with the girls having a bad start before the game with Kelly Rigby getting hurt while the girls were warming up after colliding with Gennessa’s goalie helmet and needing to get 5 stiches for a cut above her left eye and also losing Alex Edwards after hurting her herself in div 2 womens match the day before. Then the girls got of to a slow start with Norths scoring 2 goals in the first 10mins and having to play catch up after that. The girls had there own attacking opportunities but were unable to convert their chances. The girls battle hard for the rest of the 70 mins against Norths and also some less than flattering umpiring. With 2mins to go, Norths scored again to seal the game and the points. |
| 4 | QUT 3 | Redcliffe | L 3-0 | |
| 5 | QUT 4 | Norths | L 0-6 |
ROUND 12 – Sat 26 & Sun 27 June
| Division | Team | Opposition | Result | Match Report |
| 2 | QUT 1 | Bulimba | D 1-1 | |
| 3 | QUT 2 | Bulimba | L 0-1 | QUT played Bulimba at Redcliffe with the game getting off to a even start and the girls doing the best in attack and defence, but no team could break the deadlock and it was Nil all at the half. The second half started pretty much like the first, with both teams trying to find way through each others defences. The game opened up with 15 mins to go and it was nearly end to end hockey but with an hour gone Bulimba finally cracked the QUT defence and scored the only goal of the match. The girls tried their best but could not find the answering goal. |
| 4 | QUT 3 | Bulimba | W 1-0 | |
| 5 | QUT 4 | Bulimba | L 0-2 |
ROUND 11 – Sat 19 & Sun 20 June
| Division | Team | Opposition | Result | Match Report |
| 2 | QUT 1 | Ascot | D 1-1 | |
| 3 | QUT 2 | UQ | D 0-0 | QUT played UQ (the forces of darkness) on a cool Sunday morning. The girls started well and had all the early attack and but could not convert their chances. But the girls didn’t give in and didn’t let UQ get any of attack going and but couldn’t convert on the 4 penalty corners they had in the first half The second half started well with the girls continuing to play well they thought they scored from a corner in 40th min but were denied because of a stick check on the goalie and in another passage play the girls nearly scored but the ball went centimetres wide of the UQ net. The girls played out the game and were unfortunate not to win but held on for the draw. |
| 4 | QUT 3 | UQ | L 0-1 | |
| 5 | QUT 4 | SBE | D 1-1 |
ROUND 10 – Sat 5 & Sun 6 June
| Division | Team | Opposition | Result | Match Report |
| 2 | QUT 1 | Commercial | L 1-2 | |
| 3 | QUT 2 | Commercial | L 1-3 | QUT played Commercial at 1:30pm on a nice day at East Tiger Turf, with both sides getting off to good starts. But it was QUT that opened the scoring from a penalty corner in the 18th minute scored by Alex Edwards, and the girls had the momentum on their side. But 3 mins before half time Commercial had equalized and the game was up for grabs going into the 2nd half. But it was Commercial that grabbed the momentum and the points from goals in the 43rd from a pc and a 49th minute field goal that gave commercial the win. The girls had no answers after that and looked a beaten side with the girls unable to get their game going again and like many games this season fading in the 2nd half. |
| 4 | QUT 3 | Commercial | W 2-1 | |
| 5 | QUT 4 | Pine Hills | L 0-6 |
ROUND 9 – Sat 22 & Sun 23 May 2010
| Division | Team | Opposition | Result | Match Report |
| 2 | QUT 1 | Easts | W 1-0 | |
| 3 | QUT 2 | Easts | L 0-1 | |
| 4 | QUT 3 | Easts | L 0-2 | |
| 5 | QUT 4 | Easts | L 0-5 | The team played really well. The scoreline didn’t reflect the game as Easts had an ex-Australian player in their team who scored most of their goals. |
ROUND 8 – Sat 15 & Sun 16 May 2010
| Division | Team | Opposition | Result | Match Report |
| 2 | QUT 1 | St Andrews | ? | ? |
| 3 | QUT 2 | Redcliffe | L 1-4 | ? |
| 4 | QUT 3 | St Andrews | L 0-1 | ? |
| 5 | QUT 4 | Redcliffe | L 0-3 | Thanks to all our subs from DP1 – Brett (coach), Tania, Nerida, Miranda, Jaqs and Kim. |
ROUND 7
| Division | Team | Opposition | Result | Match Report |
| 2 | QUT 1 | Kedron Wavell | W 3-1 | ? |
| 3 | QUT 2 | Kedron Wavell | L 0-4 | QUT Played Kedron Wavell at 12pm on nice day at Easts Hockey Tiger Turf, with girls being the 1st QUT team to play on the new soft spongy turf. With Kedron getting off to the better start and but to the girls they started to get their short passing game going and their own attacking spells but were unlucky to concede a goal right on half time from a PC that Kedron converted. With the good start to second half the girls couldn’t find a equalizer. A ten minute span from the 55th to 66th minute Kedron piled on 3 goals to secure the win, with 2 goals coming off PC’s. The girls had no answers after that and looked a beaten side with the girls unable to get out of their own half. |
| 4 | QUT 3 | Kedron Wavell | D 0-0 | ? |
| 5 | QUT 4 | Pine Rivers | L 1-3 | Mother’s Day (for Irene our manager with 3 daughters in the team and Petra our GK) was celebrated at Burringbar Park playing against Pine Rivers. The match was very even for the first half, and the half time score was 1-1 with Ayisha Boaden scoring a great field goal in the 27 minute. Unfortunately without relief to our girls, no subs available, the second half saw Pine Rivers score two additional goals against our then weary QUT team. Nevertheless an enjoyable game with a lot of action and speed from the team. |
ROUND 6
| Division | Team | Opposition | Result | Match Report |
| 2 | QUT 1 | Valleys | W 1-0 | The girls looked more like Olympic swimmers than hockey players on today as they braved a torrential downpour to defeat Valleys 1-0 in a very well fought match at Redcliffe. Playing a dramatically improved, shorter and faster game than last week, the team linked together like a well-oiled machine. Tracy emerged from somewhere in the puddles in the second half to scored the winner. Plenty of comments came from the sideline about the standard of the players and the coaching this year…well done girls! Congrats also to Louise (Mossy) on a great debut! |
| 3 | QUT 2 | South West United | L 1-2 | QUT Played SWU at 5:30-pm on nice but cool early evening at Redcliffe, with game getting off to the even start between both teams. But it was South west that struck first in 10th min but with 10mins the girls were back on even terms thanks to a great back stick shot from Alex Edwards to make score 1 all and that was the score at the half. With in a 5 minutes of the restart South West had the 1 goal advantage back. The girls had their chances but were unable to convert in a end to end 2nd half with couple girls coping injuries from wayward south west sticks. Hopefully girls can improve on this performance in the coming matches. |
| 4 | QUT 3 | Valleys | W 3-1 | |
| 5 | QUT 4 | South West United | L 0-2 | On a sunny Anzac Day with QUT doing battle against South West United. There was even blood drawn!!! It was a very even game first half. The first goal from a penalty corner came within 44th minute, with the majority of possession with SWU for the rest of the match. It was certainly a frustrating match for the QUT supporters! |
ROUND 5
| Division | Game | Result | Match Report |
| Division 2 | QUT 1 v Ascot | W 2-1 | The first twenty minutes were not pretty at all and B’Bar spectators were left wondering if they were in fact watching a game of tennis as ball made its way back and forth between the defence (the sexy white skirts only added to this effect). Things started to improve once Vicki’s fanclub arrived to provide support and the girls headed into half time 2 zip up courtesy of JK the Pocket Rocket and Neverstop Nikki. Despite a much better second half with some good control through the midfield, Ascot managed to slot one in in the very last second (no – that is not a typo) of the game. |
| Division 3 | QUT 2 v Ascot | L 0-3 | QUT played Ascot on Sunday arvo, with all the girls looking smart in their white skirts and no complaints from Ascot about the girls’ uniforms either. The girls played a lot better this week after last week’s performance and the girls were unlucky not to score with the girls having 8 PC’s in the second half but Ascot were able to convert their chances and Ascot ran out 3-0 winners. Big thanks to Thomas Mills for filling as manager while their regular manager was playing his game at the same time. |
| Division 4 | QUT 3 v Ascot | L 0-1 | ? |
| Division 5 | QUT 4 v Logan | L 0-1 | A tight match between QUT and Logan. The only goal was scored in the first 4 minutes and from then on it was a well fought match. The second half was very frustrating for the QUT supporters with most of the possession with QUT but try as they may, no goal eventuated. Stand out players on the day were Vanessa Weir and Rachelle McBain who chased everything down with great support play from Sally Firth and Kate Cook. The high point was an after match celebration for Ayisha Boaden’s 19th birthday! |
ROUND 4
| Division | Game | Result | Match Report |
| Division 2 | QUT 1 v Norths | W 3-1 | ? |
| Division 3 | QUT 2 v Norths | L 0-5 | QUT played Norths at 3pm on nice day at Redcliffe, with some of the girls looking worse for wear after last night’s R.E.D theme night. With Norths getting off to the better start and the girls on back foot early but girls got better and had their own attacking spells and it was Nil all at the half. Within a 6 minute span from the 43rd to 49th minute Norths piled on 4 goals to secure the win. The gilrs had no answers after that and norths made it 5 when they scored off a PC in the 62nd minute. It was the worst half of hockey the girls have played in the 4 games so far this season. Hopefully next week the girls will more focus and play out both halves of hockey and will be feeling lot better and not hungover |
| Division 4 | QUT 3 v Redcliffe | L 0-3 | It didn’t go well and we are taking it as a learning experience. No further comments to be made at this time. |
| Division 5 | QUT 4 v Norths | L 0-4 | QUT had to battle a highly spirited opposition and a swarm of mosquitoes at Redcliffe on Sunday night, tainted with some subjective decisions from one learning umpire. Nevertheless they continued the fight to the end, and though the 4-0 loss does not perhaps reflect a solid performance, they did just that. The fought 14 penalty corners and the opposition constantly taking possession into their goal circle, but the team played hard throughout the game and worked well together. Thanks to Lisa, Jaqs, Jackie, Kim and Bruce for filling in. |
ROUND 3
| Division | Game | Result | Match Report |
| Division 2 | QUT 1 v Bulimba | W 3-2 | The girls are finding their form and it is clear to see that in future games QUT1 will gel together to pull of further great wins. |
| Division 3 | QUT 2 v Bulimba | W 2-0 | QUT played Bulimba on a Friday night with good conditions for hockey. The girls started out slow and but the girls then warmed into match and it was end to end stuff with free following hockey been played by both teams in the first half. The second half started pretty much as the 1st half ended but the girls converting on a penalty corner in the 53rd min. Goal score by Alex Edwards, 5 mins later Ibis scored again from scramble in front of the Bulimba net and goal was put in by Karina Welch to give QUT a 2 goal lead which girls kept to the final siren. |
| Division 4 | QUT 3 v Bulimba | L 3-4 | The Division 4 women played a hard fought match on Sunday evening against a mostly young, fit & speedy Bulimba team. Vanessa Weir scored the first goal from a penalty corner in the 4th minute. A goal to Bulimba, then a great goal from Kelly Rigby saw the score 2 to 1 at half time. Once again the girls had to run hard the whole match with only one injured sub. Despite QUT’s committed effort Bulimba scored 3 goals before Bridgette Jackson closed the gap with another goal to QUT, with the final score 4 to 3 Bulimba’s way. The opposition will need to watch out when we get a full, fit team on the turf as we have the speed and talent to beat anyone. |
| Division 5 | QUT 4 v Bulimba | W 2-1 | With a great turn out of 13 players the atmosphere and emotional high of the team was obvious from the start. Ball moved back and forth throughout the game with a high energy response from QUT and they had the best of the possession. What was nice to see was a significant amount of back passing from the team, something the ladies have been concentrating on at practice. There were numerous chances taken during the game, and two close ones that would have had the Bulimba goalie hyperventilating from Ayisha Boaden and another from Kim Henry. But Vanesa Weir finally converted and scored our two goals on the day. A great team effort and wonderful to place our first win on the board! |
ROUND 2
| Division | Game | Result | Match Report |
| Division 2 | QUT 1 v Uni | W 3-2 | Everything you want from the battle of the Unis – blood, biffo and the better side of the scoreline! In what at times resembled more of a baseball game than a hockey match, the girls dominated the first half with some stellar attack. Sarah took one in the face for the team courtesy of a kamikaze goal keeper whilst Trace slotted in a beauty amidst the chaos! Alex found the net just before half time and in the second half JK finished off some great team build up with her first of the season. Uni clawed their way back late in the match but some solid defence saw the girls hold on for their first win of 2010. |
| Division 3 | QUT 2 v Uni | L 1-2 | QUT played UQ (the forces of darkness) on a humid and cloudy Sunday. The girls started out slow and Uni had all the early attack and soon had a goal on the board in the 3rd min. But the girls didn’t give in, they soon warmed up and got into match and had their own little periods of attack and got a penalty corner but were unable to score. The second half started well with the girls converting on a penalty corner in the 38th min. Goal scored by Jenna Ridley, but 9 mins later Uni scored again from scramble in front of the QUT net and unfortunately the girls couldn’t find the equalizer and Uni held on for the win. |
| Division 4 | QUT 3 v Uni | W 1-0 | The Div 4 women continued their winning form with a 1-0 win against UQ on Friday night. Playing with only 11 players, the girls once again put in a fantastic defensive effort for the whole game, with each player continuing to run hard and support their team mates. Miriam McMahon scored the winning goal during the second half. A special mention to Anna Foreshaw for continuing to play well & run tirelessly despite a painful leg injury. |
| Division 5 | QUT 4 v SBE | L 1-2 | With only 10 players on the day, the QUT girls went all out, on a very hot morning, to cover the field and hold the Eagles at Bay. With Judy Harrap helmeted and covering the goal she was a phenomenal sight and frustrated the Eagles consistently throughout the match. With a total of 8 corners awarded against QUT, it was the work of Vanesa Weir that fraught nearly all of their attempts with a remarkable sprint to the opposition shooter. There was some excellent hassle from Sally Firth throughout, and QUT’s efforts were finally rewarded when Angela Duffy managed to score a field goal in the 68 minute. |
ROUND 1
| Division | Game | Result | Match Report |
| Division 2 | QUT 1 v Commercial | L 1-6 | The girls have yet to find their form. Coming up against the reigning premiers from 2009, the game was spent mostly in our defensive half. Goal scorer was Sarah McElligott. |
| Division 3 | QUT 2 v Commercial | L 0-3 | After a fantastic first game with the girls delivering precise passes and perfect trapping, we were unlucky to go down by 3 to Commerical. Plenty of potential was evident amongst the team. |
| Division 4 | QUT 3 v Commercial | W 3-1 | A brilliant start for the div 4 girls, winning 3 to 1 against Commercial, especially for a team which has previously played little or no hockey together. After a strong first half, with good defensive pressure from all players giving Commercial few opportunities, the score was nil all. The game opened up during the second half with Miriam McMahon scoring a great first goal for the season, followed by fantastic goals from Kelly Rigby and Hayley Edmunds. Commercial scored a late goal. Every player contributed to the win in a team which can only get stronger with match fitness & time playing together. Thanks to Rachelle & Genessa (at short notice) for filling in. |
| Division 5 | QUT 4 v Pine Hills | L 1-6 | Pine Hills were a superior team on the day, the 6 goals they gained were provided by only two of their outstanding and experienced players. QUT played well, and there were some moments of brilliance when they passed well and coordinated as a team. Unfortunately only one goal was realised, Kim Henry being the goal scorer. Diligent practice and improved fitness will no doubt result in improved productivity on the field. |
